If you're either one of my friends, family members, co-workers, or just whatever, then you know that Mark Philippoussis is, and will always be, my all-time favorite tennis player.

Mark made it to the U.S. Open Finals!!! I'm so proud to "know" this man! He played and lost a well fought match to his former doubles partner and fellow country-man Patrick Rafter.

Even though he won last year, Mark, sadly, lost here in Memphis at the Kroger/St. Jude Tennis Tournament in the Third Round. Tommy Haas went on to win it, beating former Number One-er Jim Courier.

-Began playing tennis at the age of 6 with his father, Nick, a former soccer goalie
-Finished No. 3 in singles in 1994 world junior rankings. And in doubles, Mark and Ben Ellwood finished as No. 1 in the world, winning Australian, Wimbledon, and Italian juniors
-Played in The Atlanta Olympics and reached third round in singles
-Earned RADO Player To Watch award in 1995, which is given to the player who had a breakthrough year on the ATP Tour
-Even now, Mark is still coached my his dad
-Mark set the world record for the fastest serve on March 7, 1997, when he served a 142.3 mph ace. But in Dec., '97, Greg Rusedski broke the record THREE times: 143 mph, 146 mph, 149 mph
-Mark is sponsored by Fila, but appears in all the new K-Swiss commercials
-There's even a Fila Philippoussis shoe!!

-He's Greek/Italian/Austalian (The PERFECT man!)

-I've gotten my picture taken with him
-He gave me his wristband and said "hey" to me 'cuz he remembered me from the day before
